After the flurry of activity with sports, graduation, school and kids, suddenly the house is quiet. Very quiet. The best way to get through it is by creating momentum in your life. The quicker that you get out and do things, such as joining a club or exploring museums, the sooner you will embrace your new home life. There’s no one better place to do that than Jacksonville – the surrounding area is full of things to do.
Jacksonville is packed with tons of things to do, especially for the 55+ crowd! For those looking for a cultured afternoon, the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville (MOCA) is a museum that hosts the most cutting edge works in contemporary art. Spend an afternoon experiencing the profound work, and then watch independent films at their Movies on the House event, every other Thursday night. If you’re interest is more musical, the Jacksonville Jazz Festival happens every May, and hosts jazz musicians from all across the world!
Established as one of The First Coast’s most relevant historical landmarks, the St. Johns River is where the locals go to fish, swim, and relax on the waterfront. There’s nothing like a dip in the water for a fresh start in the morning or a midday cool down! Grab a rental boat from Clapboard Creek Fish Camp Marine and pull inner tubes across the waterfront. You can even enjoy a fishing charter from Backwater Fishing Adventures to see trout, crappie, and flounder in their natural habitat – and catch them, too!
The closest that you could get to traveling back in time is visiting St. Augustine. You can explore the Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest masonry fortress in the USA, and learn of what life was like in the 17th century with live reenactments, artifacts, and curator talks. At the same time, St. Augustine is incredibly modern. Just across the way from Castillo de San Marcos is a strip of the most popular boutiques in town down San Marco Avenue, including Nest & Co. and Anchor Boutique. Within walking distance of the Lightner Museum is Costa Brava, where locals go for upscale Middle Eastern food.
Our number one reason why Jacksonville is the perfect for a fresh start is because it’s close to the best of everything! Whether you’re looking for the coolest cultural events, or original ways to enjoy the outdoors, you’re in the right place to experience it all. That’s what makes a community like WaterSong special. Located in St. Johns County and made exclusively for the 55+ crowd, you can enjoy amenities and specialties only minutes from your home. Plus, Jacksonville International Airport is close by, so your empty nest won’t be empty for long.
WaterSong by Mattamy Homes is designed to fit your life. We can’t give you the specifics just yet, but we can tell you this is Mattamy Homes first 55+ neighborhood and there is much to be excited for. Those who are part of the Founders Club can sign up to view floor plans and even have first selection of homes and plots, all before anyone else!
As a bonus, the residents of WaterSong enjoy RiverTown’s impressive array of on-site amenities. The spectacular RiverClub is located directly on the St. Johns River. An infinity edge pool overlooking the river, a poolside café, family game room, fire pit gathering areas, a pirate themed playground, Amphitheater, and waterfront boardwalk with kayak launch are all included in the expansive campus. Two additional pools (one with a corkscrew slide), tennis, basketball, soccer and a tot lot are located at the RiverHouse Amenity Center, which is additionally home to the community clubhouse, activities director and fitness center.
The community is centrally located with close proximity to Jacksonville and the historic city of St. Augustine on Florida’s First Coast. St. Johns County boasts incredibly beautiful beaches and great shopping, dining and entertainment possibilities. There are always great concerts, festivals and events on the calendar, and a wide array of cultural venues to experience the history and arts of this dynamic region just outside the gates.
The Welcome Center is open daily at 90 Lanier Street, St. Johns. For more information about WaterSong, visit us here.
